Dr. CHRISTINE HARRIS-VAN KEUREN serves a Senior Research Scientist for EPI. She has over 10 years of experience in education research and serves as the Principal Investigator on EPI projects which meet the rigorous statistical criteria for the What Works Clearinghouse (WWC). Dr. Harris-Van Keuren specializes in education and economics analyses, including advanced cost analyses methodologies. She is published with the Inter-American Development Bank, OECD, USAID, and UNESCO on issues related to education and equity.

In her capacity as Senior Research Scientist for EPI, Dr. Harris-Van Keuren has managed mid- to large-scale projects and managing publication cycles, including research, data analysis, writing, quality control reviews, design, production schedule, and project staff. She serves as Principal Investigator for the federally funded Arizona State Preparatory Academy i3 Grant, Phoenix, AZ, and as project manager for projects funded by the Colorado Office of Behavioral Health, Denver, CO, Save the Children, Dhaka, Bangladesh, Tropical Health and Education Trust (THET), Lusaka, Zambia / Department for International Development (DFID), London, UK. She has served as support staff for projects funded by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle, WA, and the US Department of Education—Office of Post-Secondary Education, International and Foreign Language Education (IFLE), Washington, D.C. and the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), Washington, D.C.

Dr. Harris-Van Keuren has authored numerous papers and book chapters on education and equity issues. Her work has been distributed internationally and translated into Russian and Spanish.  Dr. Van Keuren has conducted focus groups with school administrators, teachers, support staff, and students (inclusive of student with special needs and at-risk youth) domestically and internationally.

Before joining EPI, Dr. Harris-Van Keuren served as a consultant for City Year, Boston, MA, Inter-American Development Bank (IADB), Washington, D.C., PADECO Co., Ltd. Manila, Philippines /Asian Development Bank (ADB), Tokyo, Japan, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Paris, France, and the World Bank, Washington, D.C.. She also served as an Adjunct Professor at Lehigh University where she led groups of graduate students to Cambodia to conduct research on the education system.

Dr. Harris-Van Keuren lived and worked in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam for three years where she served as a senior trainer for Apollo Education and Training. Apollo was recognized as the first foreign-owned organization to receive two campaign medals for “the Cause of Education” from the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training.
